Mettrum Health Corp. Responds to Health Canada's Proposed Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations
TORONTO, ONTARIO–(Marketwired – Aug. 11, 2016) – Mettrum Health Corp. (TSXV:MT.V), a vertically integrated provider of cannabis products, is pleased to respond to today’s announcement by Health Canada that new regulations governing the production of medical cannabis in Canada.
The Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR) will come into effect on August 24th and replaces the existing Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations. The ACMPR provides options for patients who require medical cannabis.
This announcement reaffirms that the only commercial providers of medical cannabis are Canada’s current licensed producers (LPs). Patients who wish to grow, or designate a grower, will need to receive a doctor’s authorization to use cannabis for medical purposes, register with Health Canada, and to comply with all municipal by-laws and regulations.
“As in other industries, we do not anticipate DIY growing and designated DIY to have any impact on our ability to achieve our business objectives,” said Michael Haines, CEO, Mettrum Health Corp. “Cannabis is an evolving industry in Canada. It is a time of change and as a leading licensed producer Mettrum has always been at the forefront of opportunities created by regulatory change.”
Mettrum will continue to be an industry leader that offers a wide variety of high-quality, regulated cannabis products and strains; trained and informed client service; convenient ordering and delivery; and affordable pricing – including an assisted pricing program for clients in need.
