Baxter International (NYSE:BAX) today announced the Sigma Spectrum Infusion System was named 2016 Best in KLAS for Smart Pumps – Large Volume Pumps (LVP) in the 2016 Best in KLAS: Medical Equipment report. This is the fifth Best in KLAS award for Sigma Spectrum and is based on feedback from end users as well as opinions of hospital
executives and managers who make purchasing decisions.
Receiving the Best in KLAS award signifies Sigma Spectrum
outperformed other smart pumps on the market and indicates a high level
of customer satisfaction with the platform and its support services. And
recently, Sigma Spectrum was recognized in the KLAS ”Smart
Pumps 2016: The Quest for Patient Safety”
    report as a leader in
drug library compliance and overall ease of use.
The Best in KLAS award reflects Baxter’s commitment to innovative
technology for medication delivery designed to enhance patient safety.
”Being named Best in KLAS once again is a particular honor
because it reflects how Sigma Spectrum pumps are being used to
support patient care,” said David Ferguson, Global Head of Baxter’s
Fluid Systems Franchise. ”Clinicians on the hospital floor need an
infusion pump that is easy-to-use, prioritizes patient safety and is
backed up by trusted training and support – all areas in which Sigma
    Spectrum
    excels.”
KLAS Research specializes in monitoring and reporting the performance of
software, services and medical equipment vendors. To inform its latest
report, KLAS gathered performance feedback from Sigma Spectrum
users, who gave Sigma Spectrum high marks in a number of
categories that highlight Sigma Spectrum’s performance and safety
    at the bedside.

    About Sigma Spectrum Infusion System
Sigma Spectrum’s hardware works in concert with the pump’s
software to encourage use of innovative features that are designed to
help enhance patient safety and clinician efficiency. For example, the
pumps automatically default to the installed drug library without
requiring clinicians to take extra steps to ”opt-in,” and drug library
updates can be delivered wirelessly to pumps in the facility without
interrupting clinical workflow. Sigma Spectrum is the only pump
to include a built-in Dose/Rate Change Error Prevention Feature, which
helps clinicians protect high-risk infusions during titrations, and
allows pharmacists to customize dose change limits for individual drugs.
The Sigma Spectrum pump also includes built-in real-time location
tracking of equipment within a facility to protect against misplacement,
as well as enhanced data analytics and use of standard IV set technology
that can yield up to 53 percent cost savings in IV tubing sets and 30
percent reduction in IV tubing use.1
Rx Only. For the safe and proper use of this device, refer to the
    appropriate operator’s manuals.
