Global Cannabis Applications Corp (GCAC) (CSE:APP, FRA:2FA, OTCQB:FUAPF), a leading developer of innovative smartphone applications for the cannabis industry, is pleased to announce it has established a presence in Australia with the appointment of Jason Webb as Managing Director for Australian Operations.
Jason Webb has extensive experience in tech commercialisation in Australia and has helped build a number of businesses in cutting edge sectors such as FinTech (financial technology) and RegTech (regulation technology).
Brad Moore, CEO of GCAC, states, “Mr. Webb will help GCAC become a cornerstone for medical research, medical apps development and IP licencing. He will be tasked with securing contracts with leading health, government, tech, providers and medical cannabis accelerators.”
In November 2016, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) moved medical cannabis from a Schedule 9 product to a Schedule 8, immediately creating a legal market for the sale and commercialisation of medical cannabis in Australia. Australia is now seen as an important market for medical cannabis along with other countries including Canada, the Netherlands, Israel, France, and the United States.
“I am very excited to be involved with GCAC and the medical cannabis industry in Australia,” says Webb. “The unique IP contained in GCAC’s propriety ‘Pain To Strain’ database developed over 20 years will be pivotal in helping the medical cannabis industry grow in Australia.”

Mr. Webb will also be engaging industry input for GCAC’s CannaMed app that will be launched to help the estimated 750,000 existing medical cannabis patients in Australia and to connect patients to pharmacies to GP’s for better health outcomes.
“Medical cannabis is a very exciting opportunity. However, the most exciting opportunity will be the significant insights from the big data that flows out from this new frontier,”‘ says Jason Webb. “Though regulation in Australia has provided permission to patients to use medical cannabis, it has not yet allowed specialists to promote to patients how to access medical cannabis. The CannaMed app will fill this gap,” says Webb.
The CannaMed app is built upon the Citizen Green tech stack and incorporates the proprietary “Pain To Strain” database, matching ailments to beneficial cannabinoids. Though the CannaMed app will be available to the Australian public on IOS and Android by January 2018, the Pain To Strain database is available for scientific research consideration immediately.
GCAC Australia will be based in Melbourne, Australia, and operational effective August 2017.
