Varonis Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRNS), a leading provider of software solutions that protect data from insider threats and cyberattacks, has been named by Gartner as a “Representative Vendor” in its new Market Guide for User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) for the second consecutive year.
Varonis DatAlert protects and monitors data assets, from suspicious or anomalous activity to detecting critical events like ransomware, compromised files and cyberattacks. It automates threat detection with predictive threat models built on advanced analytics, user behavior and machine learning. Unlike other UBA and SIEM solutions, Varonis is not dependent on external data sources and captures high-fidelity auditing data directly from disparate monitored systems, to combine that information into DatAlert for a holistic view across an organization’s unstructured data.
Authored by Gartner analysts Avivah Litan, Tricia Phillips and Toby Bussa, the Market Guide recommends that security and risk management leaders focused on security monitoring and operations should “choose UEBA vendors aligned to the threats you want to detect, such as malicious insiders and external hackers, and those with solutions that align with your use cases. Fill gaps in existing security tools (for example, security event monitoring).”David Gibson, Vice President of Strategy and Market Development at Varonis, said, “It’s incredible in today’s threat environment how many risk assessments reveal sizeable exposures through loose internal access controls. Valuable and sensitive data is frequently left open for anyone inside that organization to see and steal. Worse, very few organizations can see when insiders are accessing data abnormally. Since our inception, Varonis has used user behavior analytics to make recommendations about where access can be safely reduced. Through DatAlert, we’ve made significant advances in using behavior analytics to learn the identities of executives, administrators and service accounts, profile how they use data, and spot unusual data access activity that might indicate a misbehaving employee or hijacked account. We are pleased to be included by Gartner in this important category and for our solution to be so closely aligned with Gartner’s recommendations. As we keep innovating for our existing customers and those we have yet to meet, we look forward to adding to our capabilities and continuing to stop malicious actors in their tracks.”In assessing the market growth of UEBA technologies, the Gartner report states, “Gartner client interest in UEBA grew significantly over the past year, reflecting increasing awareness of the market, vendors and applicable use cases by buyers. Market consolidation was minimal over the last 12 months, with few mergers or acquisitions. Few vendors entered the UEBA market, but vendors that added or claimed to already have UEBA functionality in their solutions increased. Gartner continues to see growth in the market as stand-alone UEBA vendors reported increased interest that resulted in revenue growth. Gartner expects revenue for stand-alone UEBA products to surpass $200 million by the end of 2017.”The Varonis Metadata Framework is the basis for a wide range of use cases including UEBA, sensitive data classification and remediation, identity and access rights management, enterprise search, and storage reduction. Thousands of organizations around the world rely on Varonis to curtail over-exposure of their most valuable and sensitive data and help prevent the inevitable network breaches for causing harm.Additional ResourcesFor more information on Varonis’ solution portfolio, please visit www.varonis.comVisit our blog, and join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.Source: Gartner, Market Guide for User and Entity Behavior Analytics, December 8, 2016Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product or service depicted in its research publications and does not advise technology users to select only those vendors with the highest ratings or other designation.
