NEW ORLEANS, LA–(Marketwired – Jun 20, 2016) – HITEC, Booth #734 – Nomadix Inc., the innovator and pioneer of public access gateways, today announced an accessory for its popular AG 5900 bandwidth management gateway. The 2-port Enhanced Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP+) Fiber Module is designed for hotels, or other establishments with visitor-based networks, where a fiber architecture is deployed and fiber WAN ports are needed. SFP+ technology ensures optimal performance, lowest latency and low power usage when compared to copper Base-T.

To support the increasing bandwidth demands being placed on high-speed internet access (HSIA), many four- and five-star hotels today are upgrading their IT infrastructure from copper to fiber. In addition, many newer properties are being built with fiber instead of copper. Fiber offers significant advantages over copper wire, as it can better accommodate high-demand applications. To support these higher throughput pipes, Nomadix’s AG 5900 SFP+ Fiber Module enables hotels to support fiber WAN connections.

“In our discussions with many larger hotel brands and managed service providers, we’re seeing a growing trend of hotels embracing the high-end enterprise capabilities that fiber has to offer,” said Fred Reeder, Nomadix chief commercial and operating officer. “While copper connections will continue to be a part of deployments, there’s no denying that SFP+ technology offers a number of advantages. Our new Fiber Module supports the copper to fiber trend and ultimately leads to better HSIA performance — which ensures that hotels can satisfy their guests’ expectations. It’s a win-win for hoteliers and guests alike.”

Equipped with a range of bandwidth conservation and management tools, the AG 5900 gateway extends a wired or Wi-Fi network to create a public Internet access network — ensuring that the quality of the connection is optimum, that each user gets fair access to bandwidth and that users who pay for a superior connection will receive a superior connection. Bandwidth can be managed by class of user, by group, subscriber or device, or by a combination of all of these. The scalability of the AG 5900 supports anywhere from 500 to 8,000 simultaneous devices without any required change of hardware or software design, enabling organizations to add support for increasing numbers of devices as needed. The AG 5900 is designed for medium- to large-sized venues, such as hotels, convention centers, airports, and stadiums.

The 2-port SFP+ Fiber Module will be available at the end of Q4 2016 as a factory-installed option or as a field-upgradeable option. Two transceivers are available: a 10km single-mode datacom SFP+ and an 850nm multi-mode datacom SFP+. Each transceiver dissipates less than one watt of power. The Fiber Module is also RoHS compliant.

At HITEC, Nomadix will have a model on display at their booth #734. For more information, please contact Nomadix at 818-597-1500 or visit www.nomadix.com.
