Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (TSXV:YFI) has received certification for its multichannel WiFi3 technology in India.
According to the press release:

The company, in partnership with Edgewater’s New Delhi-based partner, Rare Tech, received the certification, which opens the door for Rare Tech to capitalize on the expansive market opportunity for high-density Wi-Fi throughout India.
“We are very pleased to have completed certification of WiFi3™ technology and Edgewater Wireless access point products for India,” said Sandeep Chadha, Managing Director of Rare Tech. “Over the past 6 months we have focused on introducing what we believe is the best solution for the quickly evolving high density WiFi market here in India. India is already one of the highest density markets in the world. WiFi3™ is the right solution to address the issues of connectivity and congestion that plague WiFi deployments throughout our country.”
With over 960,000,000 mobile phones in India, second only to China, the density of WiFi networks, data demand and mobile devices has created am extremely challenging and dirty RF environment for deploying WiFi networks. Many parts of India rely on mobile connectivity via WiFi for communications and to access the internet. Edgewater’s multi-channel WiFi3™ architecture enables the highest possible WiFi system performance in high-density environments such as stadiums, public transit stations and shopping centers.
“Sandeep and the team at Rare Tech worked extremely hard to achieve certification of WiFi3 technology and Edgewater Wireless access points in India,” said Andrew Skafel, CEO of Edgewater Wireless. “Working with Rare Tech we’ve created significant business and pilot opportunities for us in India. India is a country where it’s very challenging to deploy WiFi networks because of the extreme density of devices and RF interference. For the first time, there is a WiFi solution available in India that can better solve the issues of interference and capacity.”
