GOLDEN, CO–(Marketwired – June 03, 2016) –
Demartek, an independent computer industry analyst firm with its own computer test lab, announces that it has evaluated a combined Emulex and Cisco 16Gb Fibre Channel (16GFC) solution in a database workload environment.
“As data centers implement flash storage, enterprises may find themselves constrained by the available bandwidth between the servers and storage or foresee a constraint as they observe their growing data consumption patterns,” said Dennis Martin, Demartek President. “The Emulex LPe16002 Fibre Channel adapter deployed in an environment with Cisco UCS C-series servers and Cisco MDS Fibre Channel switches completed the data warehousing workload in approximately half the time compared to the older 8Gb Fibre Channel technology. Furthermore, the 16Gb Fibre Channel adapter matches the PCIe Gen 3 I/O slots in the Cisco servers while maintaining backward compatibility with the older 8GFC and 4GFC technology.”
This Demartek evaluation is available at https://www.demartek.com/Demartek_Emulex_16GFC_Cisco_Accelerating_Workload_Performance_Evaluation_2016-06.html and in the Demartek FC Zone on the Demartek web site.
Additional information on Fibre Channel technology is available on the Demartek Storage Interface Comparison page.
