MediaValet Inc. (TSXV:MVP) has added full support for 4K video, allowing organizations to upload, secure, back up, preview and share ultrahigh-definition videos that are upwards of 200 gigabytes in size.
    According to the press release:

This major addition to MediaValet’s cloud-based DAMS solves a rapidly growing pain point for marketing and creative teams, advertising agencies and video production companies. 4K video is on its way to becoming the standard in professional and consumer video production. Manufacturers currently make 20 professional, 16 consumer and 9 wearable camera models as well as 50 smartphones that capture 4K video, which can now be viewed on Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, Comcast, and DirecTV — to name only a few channels. In 2016, 20% of all TVs sold are expected to be 4K, and according to Strategy Analytics, by 2020 nearly 50% of all US households will have at least one 4K TV.
“In the first three days of being available, Apple sold over 13 million 6s and 6s Plus iPhones, all capable of shooting 4K video,” commented David MacLaren, Founder and CEO of MediaValet. “As many well-known consumer brands continue to introduce and popularize cutting edge technologies in their never ending pursuit to sell more products, consumers have come to expect the same technologies and pace of innovation within their work environments. This expectation has been a driving force of our business from day one, and we see it happening yet again with 4K video.” The rapid rise of 4K video has huge implications for the DAM industry in the very near future. On top of the sheer number of files that organizations have to handle today, they will now have to contend with file sizes that are many times larger. Built exclusively on Microsoft’s global cloud platform, Azure, MediaValet is the only digital asset management system in the world that’s available on 26 highly secure data centers, is hyper scalable, delivers triple redundancy and geo-replication as a standard service, and now fully supports uploading, downloading, previewing and sharing of 4K videos.
