Dr. Press has been recognized internationally as an educator and practitioner in the fields of behavioral optometric care, vision therapy and rehabilitation, and practice management. He is the author of three major textbooks, one of which is the primary reference used by therapists and doctors from around the world who are preparing for board certification in vision therapy through the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD).
In this role, Dr. Press will empower practitioners with education and practice management capabilities to maximize patient outcomes through vision therapy using Eyecarrot’s BinoviTM platform and broaden the reach and accessibility of vision therapy to patients globally. Dr. Press will be leading Eyecarrot’s efforts to strengthen bridges between academic research, education and clinical practice by collaborating with world-class leaders in vision therapy, building long-term partnerships with leading global Optometry organizations, and facilitating access to the Binovi software, hardware, and data for Optometry Schools and their Teaching Clinics.

ABOUT DR. LEONARD J. PRESS, O.D., FCOVD, FAAO

Dr. Leonard J. Press is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he was a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. He completed his Residency program in Pediatric Optometry at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and formerly served as Chief of the Pediatric Unit of The Eye Institute. In 1982, Dr. Press was recruited to the SUNY College of Optometry to serve as Chief of the Vision Therapy Service, where he was Associate Professor of Clinical Optometry for 15 years. He left academia to concentrate on leading a full-time practice, and is currently the Optometric Director of the Vision and Learning Center in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
Dr. Press is the author of three major textbooks: Clinical Pediatric Optometry, Clinical Pearls in Refractive Care, and Applied Concepts in Vision Therapy, the latter available in iBook format. He has co-authored Clinical Practice Guidelines for the American Optometric Association, and is the author of a monograph from the Optometric Extension Program on Computers and Vision Therapy Programs. Dr. Press served as President of COVD, and served on their International Examination and Certification Board. He is also a Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry Pediatric Optometry/Binocular Vision and Perception, and formerly served as a Consultant on Visual Disabilities to the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). Dr. Press is Editor-in-Chief of Vision Development & Rehabilitation, the journal of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. He is also an Associate Editor of Elsevier’s online global initiative, Practice Update for Eyecare, and a section editor for Elsevier’s annual volume on Advances in Ophthalmology and Optometry.
Dr. Press has received numerous awards for his research, writing, and clinical work, including the Scientific Achievement Award from the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians on two separate occasions, in 1995 and in 2002. He received the Skeffington Award for Excellence in Optometric Writing from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in 1992, and the Getman Award for Excellence in Developmental Optometry in 2011. Dr. Press was honored by his peers as Optometrist of the Year by the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians in 1999, received their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007, and has served as President of the organization. He was honored as the Alumnus of the Year of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2003, which cited him for his outstanding contributions in the field of children’s vision and vision-related learning problems.
