This morning, silver rose 0.5 percent, or $0.10, to trade at $19.61 an ounce, according to Reuters.
The news outlet notes that concerns about conflict between pro-Russia separatists and government troops in Ukraine are driving precious metals prices higher. Investors are also waiting to see whether Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen’s statement before Congress will impact the dollar.
“Janet Yellen’s testimony … in Washington is the big event on the calendar today, and the market is positioning itself for (more) dovish comments,” Reuters quotes Societe Generale SA (EPA:GLE) as saying in a note.
