Unlike gold, silver increased today, though with Christmas just days away, market activity was minimal. Silver futures for March delivery on the COMEX in New York were up $0.032, to $19.49 an ounce, Kitco News reported.
Along with the upcoming holiday, the US Federal Reserve’s announcement last week that it will begin tapering its stimulus program is also affecting the white metal’s price, Reuters said.
