Platts reported that laborers who went on strike at the Marikana platinum mine are now back at work, a day after 6,000 workers went on an illegal strike at the world’s third biggest platinum producer.

There was a fight between officials at the offices in February that left at least four people in hospital. Mathunjwa said he would continue to put pressure on management to evict the NUM from the office and hand it over to AMCU because it is now a majority union.
