Implats, Amplats, Aquarius Considering $3-billion Platinum Plant
Bloomberg reported that Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd. (OTCMKTS:IMPUY), Anglo American Platinum Ltd. (OTCMKTS:AGPPY) and Aquarius Platinum Ltd. are looking into building a $3-billion platinum and base metals refining complex consisting of a smelter, base metals refinery and precious metals refinery. It would be located in Zimbabwe.
Bloomberg reported that Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd. (OTCMKTS:IMPUY), Anglo American Platinum Ltd. (OTCMKTS:AGPPY) and Aquarius Platinum Ltd. (ASX:AQP) are looking into building a $3-billion platinum and base metals refining complex consisting of a smelter, base metals refinery and precious metals refinery. It would be located in Zimbabwe.
As quoted in the market news:
‘The PPA are still finalizing the cost of construction and commissioning of these units,’ the group said.
Additional costs will include power supply, road, water and housing, the group said. Currently the country can’t supply the more than 100 megawatts of electricity the complex would need, it said.
‘The critical requirement to spur growth in our industry is power,’ it said.
