Platts reported that in Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc.’s (TSX:TCM,NYSE:TC) Q2 earnings call, CEO Jacques Perron said the company is “looking at different alternatives” to putting the Idaho-based Thompson Creek mine on care and maintenance at the end of the year.
As quoted in the market news:
[Perron] said the company’s review included assessing the impact of a wall failure earlier this month at the mine and whether it would have an impact on the next production phase — phase 8 — of its mine plan.
Production is due to end at the end of this year, when Thompson Creek exhausts phase 7.
“So we’re doing all this work and, as we said before, we’re going to continue to look at options and we may decide to change the plan. But, so far, our plan is to go into care and maintenance at the end of the year,” Perron said.
