Vietnam Imports Thermal Coal for First Time: Vinacomin

Platts reported that Vietnam received its first imported shipment of coal.

The market news is quoted as saying:

The importer is the North Eastern Corporation, a Vinacomin subsidiary, which will be responsible for importing coal for power generation facilities in central and southern regions of the country. Coal-fired plants in northern Vietnam are expected to use coal from local mines.
