Springvale Coal Mine Extension May Face Further Opposition

Australian Mining reported that even though the Springvale coal mine extension has been recommended for approval by the Planning and Assessment Commission, it may face opposition from the state and federal government amid claims that it will also affect Sydney’s water supply.

Located near Sydney’s main reservoir, the Warragamba Dam, Centennial Coal can expect their underground mine will face staunch opposition from environmental groups, who claim Sydney’s water quality will be affected.
