NRG’s Texas Coal Plants Able to Meet New Air Rule

Reuters reported that new pollution legislation will not force NRG (NYSE:NRG) to close its Texas coal plants.

The market news is quoted as saying:

The rule mandates much stricter limits on emissions ofsulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxide from coal and naturalgas-fired power plants beginning in January. Complying with these caps will be difficult, but weanticipate from our early analysis that NRG can comply throughan integrated strategy,” said NRG spokesman David Knox.
