Stuff.co.nz reported a roof collapse at the Terrace mine, located in a town called Reefton in New Zealand’s West Coast region.
As quoted in the market news:
A Worksafe NZ spokesman said the collapse was reported on Monday. He said it appeared the roof had collapsed during the weekend when no-one was in the mine.
The agency had been in touch with the mine’s owner, Crusader Coal, and said no-one was to have access to the site until it had been assessed.
A Reefton resident said the mine had been quiet all week and it had not been in operation since the collapse.
