Miner Alpha’s Q1 Profit Up, But Misses Street Goal

Reuters reported that Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE:ANR) stocks dropped despite an increase in first quarter profits.

The market news is quoted as saying:

Net earnings were 49.8 million, or 41 cents per share, compared with $14 million, or 12 cents per share, a year earlier, the Abingdon, Virginia-based company said. Excluding items, adjusted income from continuing operations was 65 cents per share.
