Illinois Basin Coal Suppliers May Benefit from TVA Air Deal

Platts reported that the Illinois Basin may be able to increase its market share as the Tennessee Valley Authority agreed to cut emissions.

The market news is quoted as saying:

The TVA has agreed to shutter three power plants with a capacity of 2,700 MW and annual coal consumption of about 4.5 million st. Now, officials must evaluate the future of another 3,750 MW of coal-fired capacity and will consider whether it should close, convert to other fuels or add emission controls.
