Groups Challenge Colorado Coal Mine Expansion

Two groups are challenging a decision by the Board of Land Appeals that allowed for expansion of Colorado’s Elk Creek coal mine.

The market news is quoted as saying:

The mine’s operator, Oxbow Mining, said Wednesday the expansion would extend coal mining at current levels by a year and prevent layoffs among its 350 Elk Creek employees.
