Downer EDI Wins $2-billion Coal Contract

Downer EDI Limited (Downer) (ASX:DOW) announced that it has won a $2 billion contract with a mining company for works at Adani’s Carmichael coal mine in Queensland’s Galilee Basin.

Downer EDI Ltd. (ASX:DOW) announced that it has won a $2-billion contract with a mining company for works at Adani Enterprises Ltd.’s (BOM:512599) Carmichael coal mine in Queensland’s Galilee Basin.

As quoted in the press release,

The contract, which is for two years with an additional one year option, is valued at around $60 million and commences on 1 February, 2015.

Approximately 110 people will be employed to service around 90 haul trucks.

The Chief Executive Officer of Downer, Grant Fenn, said winning this contract was recognition of Downer’s maintenance capability of mining fleet and systems.
