Coal Shortages in Central China Spur Demand

Bloomberg.com reports that Commodore Research & Consultancy believes that the demand for fuel is being increased by shortages of power-plant coal in central China presently.

Thermal coal stockpiles at major power plants in Hubei have fallen to as low as 2 million metric tons, below the required 3 million tons, Jeffrey Landsberg, president of New York City- based Commodore Research, said in a note yesterday. Inventories at coal-fired generators in Henan province have dropped as low as 2.5 million from a minimum 3.5 million
