Coal India (NSE:COALINDIA), the country’s state run behemoth, is looking to increase its coal production to one billion tonnes by 2019. According to the Hindu, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said at the India Economic Summit that he saw production increasing, adding that the government would also increase investments into renewable energy.

As quoted in the publication:
Mr. Goyal, who is also minister for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), said a “huge investment opportunity” of nearly $250 billion beckons in the energy sector over the next four to five years, including $100 billion in renewables and $50 billion in transmission and distribution.
