The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the Bayswater power station, one of Australia’s biggest coal-fired power stations, plans to turn a portion of its carbon emissions into jet fuel and diesel.

As quoted in the market news:

The world-first project involves Bayswater power station, near Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley, capturing carbon dioxide emissions on site and pumping them into sealed tanks packed with algae, which will then be harvested and turned into biofuels.

The $140 million plan has earned the backing of the federal and state governments, and Macquarie Generation, the state-owned power generator that operates Bayswater.
