Australia Coal Expansion Plans in Conflict

Sydney Morning Herald reported that coal investor Nathan Tinkler’s coal port expansion proposal is in direct rivalry with another proposed coal terminal.

As quoted in the market news:

The Tinkler loader would be located on part of the site of the former BHP Steelworks, which has lain idle since it closed its Newcastle works more than a decade ago. His proposal also puts him at odds with the Newcastle Ports Corporation, which has a detailed proposal before the NSW Department of Planning for new port facilities on the site.
