News Advance reported an Alliance for Progress in Southern Virginia poll finds the majority of residents in Danville and Pittsylvania County support keeping the state’s current uranium mining ban.

As quoted in the market news:

The poll, conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University’s Survey and Evaluation Laboratory during a two-week period in June and July with 551 Danville and Pittsylvania County residents, found most respondents believe uranium mining could adversely affect agriculture and the wood products industry; that cattle, dairy, crop and wood product prices would be negatively affected; that water quality would be adversely affected; and that property values would be reduced.
