Colorado Activists Stop Uranium Mine

The Denver Post reported Powertech Uranium’s (TSX:PWE) planned exploration for uranium in Colorado has been stopped by a group of local activists.

As quoted in the market news:

When Canadian-based Powertech decided to explore a vast bed of buried uranium near the tiny Weld County town of Nunn in 2007, it expected to revive an industry key to refueling nuclear power in America.

It did not expect to stir a diverse and savvy group of locals who may have scuttled the company’s designs for uranium exploration in northern Colorado for good.
