Versant Partners reported senior Chinese officials have approved plans to construct four more nuclear reactors and the United Arab Emirates plans to build four more in the next year.
As quoted in the press release:
Senior Chinese officials have stated that approvals and construction of nuclear power plants will soon be resumed. At the plenary session of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee meeting on Wednesday, former director of the National Nuclear Safety Administration, Wang Yuqing, stated that about 10 new nuclear plants will be approved. The statuses of these 10 were placed on hold last year following the Fukushima incident. The State council has received a comprehensive plan in nuclear safety control and are currently reviewing it.
