Bloomberg reports that Baker Hughes showed that the number of rigs drilling for natural gas in the United States rose by 11 this week to 891.

The market news is quoted as saying:

The gas-directed rig count dropped to 875 two weeks ago, its lowest level in 14 months. The count is down 10 percent from its 2010 peak of 992 in mid-August, its highest since February 2009, when 1,018 rigs were drilling for gas.
