Bloomberg reports that China may enter into an agreement this year to buy 50 percent more gas from Turkmenistan.

The market news is quoted as saying:

Turkmenistan may sell China 20 billion cubic meters a year of gas in addition to 40 billion it plans to supply by 2015, First Deputy Prime Minister Baymurat Hojamuhamedov said today in Singapore. That would boost China’s imports from the Caspian country to two-thirds of its 2009 demand.
