The Wall Street Journal reports that as nations jockey to reduce their dependence on China, India’s trade minister announced that he and Japanese officials are talking about how the two countries can continue working together on rare-earth resources.

The market news is quoted as saying:

“It definitely figured in our discussions,” Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said Wednesday of the key industrial minerals. He met earlier in the day with Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara, following the signing of an India-Japan free-trade pact.”
