China – Record High Rare Earths Prices Promoting Illegal Mining

Oilprice.com reported that skyrocketing rare earth prices are encouraging illegal mining in China.

The market news is quoted as saying:

Two months ago Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Minister Miao Wei promised to “strike hard” against the illegal mining, exporting and smuggling of rare earth elements to impose discipline on an increasingly “strategic” sector of China’s economy.
