Platts reported that China’s Tianyu Mineral Industrial Group hopes to produce 40,000 to 50,000 metric tons (MT) of magnesium this year.
As quoted in the market news:
‘We can now produce about 100 mt/day of magnesium ingot, adding up to around 3,000 mt/month,’ [a company official] said. ‘Our goal is to produce around 40,000 mt this year, hoping to achieve the best result at 50,000 mt [if the market goes well].’
He said the company was still finalizing its magnesium ingot output level for 2013, but added that this year’s target is higher than actual output last year.
