TNG Limited (ASX: TNG) provided an update to on its hydrometallurgical process developed for  use at its Mount Peake Iron-Vanadium-Titanium Project. The patent is now registered in selected countries, and will seek patent permission in several more.

As quoted in the press release:

Using hydrometallurgy, the TIVAN® Process has successfully extracted commercial grades of vanadium, titanium and iron from Mount Peake ore.The Process uses a combination of acid leaching, solvent extraction and chemical stripping to selectively recover the valuable metals, offering potentially significantly capital and operating cost advantages compared with conventional processing routes.

TNG’s Managing Director, Paul Burton, said:

The patent protection of this technology is in line with the Company’s long-term objective of developing a sustainable process for new technology metals while focusing on our key exploration projects. TIVAN® has grown into a considerable asset for the Company – the value and potential of which are often overlooked.
