As quoted in the market news:
The subtle warning that the market could have earnings expectations for the two divisions too high confirms that BHP will not match last year’s record profit of $US21.68 billion, and that about $US20 billion is more likely. It would be the first profit setback since earnings took off in response to the rebound in commodity prices after the global financial crisis and BHP’s heavy investment in increasing production.
