Forbes reported that coal giants are in the process of adapting to new EPA rules against emissions from coal-fired plants.
As quoted in the market news:
According to Standard & Poor’s, about 35 percent of the existing coal generation fleet has installed pollution controls to comply with clean air rules. The rest have to do so, or retire their aging plants — something that could happen to 8 percent of the nation’s current coal portfolio, says the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. FirstEnergy recently made headlines saying that it would mothball six of its older coal plants.
