Sojitz to Partner with Abengo on $125 Million Desalination Project

Bloomberg reported that Japanese rare earth metals importer Sojitz will take part in the first desalination project of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, at a cost of $125 million. They are working in partnership with Spanish company Abengo.

Bloomberg reported that Japansese rare earth metals importer Sojitz will take part in the first desalinination project of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, at a cost of $125 million. They are working in partnership with Spanish company Abengo.

As quoted in the market report:

The Tokyo-based company said in a statement today that construction on the project in Accra will begin next month with commercial operations expected to start in 2014 on a plant to supply as much as 60,000 cubic meters of water a day, sufficient for 500,000 residents.
