Gold rose 0.1 percent or $1.31 to $1,311.10 an ounce on Tuesday, according to Reuters. Tensions in Ukraine are high, as recent fights between government forces and pro-Russian separatists have lead to the death of thirty separatists, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov announced Tuesday. Furthermore, the dollar is at a six-and-a-half-month low against other currencies. Both sources of instability are driving investors toward gold as a safe haven.

U.S. gold futures for June delivery were up $2.60 an ounce to trade at $1,311.90.
