Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) sent shockwaves through the graphite, cobalt and lithium markets earlier this year with the announcement that it plans to construct a $5-billion lithium-ion battery “gigafactory” in the Southwest United States.
More recently, Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, surprised the world with the news that the company won’t start patent lawsuits against people that use its technology in good faith.
