MetalBulletin reported that European cobalt users are currently awaiting the results of a study on whether five cobalt salts pose a threat to human health.
As quoted in the market news:
The investigation is part of REACH, an EU regulation concerning the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. It came into force on June 1 2007, replacing a number of European directives and regulations with a single system. Under REACH, the European Commission earlier this year asked the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) to investigate whether certain uses of five cobalt salts pose a threat to human health that is not adequately controlled.
