Reuters reported that Amgen Inc has agreed to pay nearly $25 million dollars to settle allegations that the company provided kickbacks to pharmacy providers Omnicare Inc, PharMerica Corp, and Kindred Healthcare Inc to entice them to use the company’s anemia drug, Aranesp, instead of a rival medicine.

We will continue to pursue pharmaceutical companies that pay kickbacks to long-term care pharmacy providers to influence drug-prescribing decisions,” Stuart Delery, acting assistant attorney general for the Justice Department’s Civil Division, said in a statement.
