Alkane Resources (ASX:ALK) reported that its subsidiary has been notified that an environmental protection license for the company’s Dubbo Zirconia project has been granted.

As quoted in the press release:

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has granted an Environment Protection Licence (EPL) covering the construction period for the DZP.    The EPL specifies the project emission limits to air, land and water, and details environmental monitoring and reporting requirements.  Part of the EPL terms include the payment of a licence fee by AZL to effectively fund the EPA to monitor the project’s compliance.  Full terms of the EPL have been published on the EPA register at   https://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/prpoeoapp/ViewPOEOLicence.aspx?DOCID=70860&SYSUID=1&LICID=20702

The Company has now received the required approvals for the project to proceed:

  • Approval from the New South Wales Planning Assessment Commission (PAC), as delegate for the NSW Minister of Planning and Environment (announced 2 June 2015),
  • Approval from NSW Department of Industry, Division of Resources and Energy for the granting of the necessary mining lease (announced 21 December 2015), and
  • Approval from the EPA covering the construction period of the project
