Shanghai Metals Market reported that in January, China imported 1.54 million metric tons (MT) of manganese ore. That’s an 11-percent decline from the previous month.

Chinese traders’ interest in importing manganese ore is waning due to high prices overseas and low prices at home. Inbound shipments of South African and Australian manganese ore were 480,000 mt and 450,000 mt, respectively.
