Anglo American and Atlas Copco to Develop Mining Equipment
Australian Mining reported that Anglo American (LSE:AAL) and Atlas will develop a joint development project for creating new underground mining machines.

As quoted in the Market news,
The two companies have been working together since 2012, co-operating in research and development focused on mechanical excavation technology, and are now in an advanced stage with proof-of-concept testing scheduled to start in the third quarter of the year.
Atlas Copco manager of global strategic projects and alliances, Mikael Ramstrom, stated:
The mining industry need to be more cost efficient and predictable in its ore production systems; one way to achieve this is to move towards continuous mining systems based on mechanical rock cutting.
