Industrial management and engineering consulting firm TRU Group reported that lithium prices have remained mostly flat as of late. The group cited the latest monthly export data from Chile as showing that lithium carbonate prices are 2.3 percent lower for the year, sitting at US$4,600 per tonne.
As quoted in the press release:
Prices are kept in check by new supply from pipeline projects and plant expansions by the big-three low-cost lithium producers – SQM, FMC and Rockwood Lithium. Albemarle Corporation (who recently acquiredRockwood) could add further to supply as it is now in a good strategic position to extract lithium as a by-product of its established brine-based bromine operation in Arkansas, USA.
