5 Top NASDAQ Tech Stocks: Sonic Foundry a Top Gainer

Although there were ups and downs throughout the week, the NASDAQ 100 Technology Sector (INDEXNASDAQ:NDXT) remained closed the week out relatively stably. Overall, the index saw a 0.7 percent decline over the past week. Here’s a look at NASDAQ’s top five tech gainers:

Sonic Foundry

Sonic Foundry share price went up by 17.75 percent this week, adding to the company’s whopping 47.81 percent increase in share price since the start of the year. The company provides enterprise solutions and services for the web communication market, offering webcasting solutions and providing video content management for education, business and government. Helping people to share knowledge online, the company uses video webcasts to bridge time and distance, enhance learning outcomes and to improve performance. Some of its products include Mediasite Enterprise Video Platform, Mediasite Cloud and Mediasite Capture Solutions.

Unwired Planet

Unwired Planet is an intellectual property licensing company with a portfolio of global mobile technology patents and patent applications. The patents cover a range of technologies associated with mobile communications across three markets: mobile cloud and services, infrastructure related to wireless networks and mobile devices.
This week’s growth of 10.3 percent helped to offset the company’s 24.49 percent year to date decline in share price.

Sify Technologies

Sify Technologies’ 7.94 percent growth last week is in keeping with a broader upward trend for the company. This month alone, the company has seen a 8.80 percent rise in share price, while year-to-date it’s seen a 38.07 percent increase.
The India-based company is an integrated information and communications technology solutions and services company. It operates through five segments: telecom services, data center services, cloud and managed services, technology integration services and application integration services. On Friday, the company reported revenues of INR 15035 million for the full year 2015-16.

SharpSpring

SharpSpring is a global provider of cloud-based marketing technologies and email services. The company provides a range of business-to-business marketing and communications products and services, as well as email infrastructure and relay services. Last week, the company saw a 6.84 percent increase in share price. This helped to turn around its monthly decline of 8.09 percent, and add to its year to date growth of 38.07 percent. The company was last on this list on March 12, when it was also a top gainer on NASDAQ.

Datawatch Corp

Datawatch is engaged in the design, development, marketing, distribution and support of business computer software, primarily within the visual data discovery market. The company’s 6.31 percent growth this week stands in contrast to its monthly decline of 8.49 and its year to date fall of 9.87 percent. The company’s second quarter of fiscal year 2016 earnings conference call took place on Thursday, April 21.
