Bloomberg reports that South African stocks are down today and some companies’ shares saw unusual movement.

The market news is quoted as saying,

Lonmin Plc (LON) , the third-largest platinum producer, gained 3.02 rand, or 1.8 percent, to 173.12 rand, its first advance in eight days. Profit almost doubled in the first half through March, rising to 45 U.S. cents a share from 23 cents a year earlier, the company said in a statement today.
