MetalBulletin reported that decreasing availability and interest from large buyers brought low-grade cobalt prices up by 15 cents on Friday.
As quoted in the market news:
Low grade cobalt rose to $12.75-13.90 per lb on May 31 from $12.60-13.85 on May 29 and high grade to $13-14.10 per lb from $12.90-14.10. ‘I am buying, especially from some of those traders that claim prices remain below $13 per lb,’ one large participant in the market said, having secured 5 tonnes of low-grade material at $13.05 per lb. ‘There is nothing now below $13,’ he said, adding that he had approached every potential large supplier in the market to buy material.
