Basin Energy Eyes Uranium Growth in Europe After Sweden Policy Shift

Basin Energy (ASX:BSN) is positioning for growth following Sweden’s significant shift in uranium policy, a move the company’s managing director, Pete Moorhouse, says has major implications not only for the company, but also for Europe’s broader energy strategy.

In an interview with the Investing News Network, Moorhouse described the change as “genuinely significant,” noting that it removes longstanding uncertainty around uranium development in a country that already relies heavily on nuclear power.

For Basin, the policy shift de-risks its Scandinavian assets and provides a clearer pathway to advance exploration in a jurisdiction aiming to strengthen energy security and domestic supply chains.

Beyond Scandinavia, Basin Energy is active across multiple jurisdictions. In Canada’s Athabasca Basin, the company is finalising a partnership that could see one of its projects drill tested in the coming months, while in Queensland it has completed an initial drilling program across a large land package prospective for uranium and rare earths.

Additional drilling focused on hard-rock targets and high-grade shear-hosted uranium is planned, supported by ongoing exploration activity from major mining players in the region.

American Uranium Exec Outlines Lo Herma ISR Progress, Resource Update

American Uranium (ASX:AMU,OTCID:AMUIF) Executive Director Bruce Lane says recent test work at the company’s Lo Herma uranium project in Wyoming has delivered an important proof of concept for its in situ recovery (ISR) development plans. The testing focused on validating aquifer performance, a critical factor for ISR mining, where uranium is mobilised within groundwater and pumped to surface.

Lane explained the company was able to confirm pumping rates “in line with our scoping study assumptions of around 20 gallons per minute,” adding that aquifer conditions appear comparable to nearby operating ISR mines, including Cameco's (TSX:CCO,NYSE:CCJ) Smith Ranch-Highland facility.

The company is now preparing an updated mineral resource estimate following a late 2025 drilling program that extended mineralisation to the north of the planned mine area. Lane said the goal is “to bring that data into our resource model,” with the immediate objective of growing the resource and refining confidence levels.

Beyond drilling, Lane said the company is advancing baseline hydrogeological work and permitting activities, noting that the scoping study envisions construction in the 2028 to 2029 timeframe and potential production in the 2029 to 2030 window.

Standard Uranium CEO Outlines Athabasca Exploration Plans and Uranium Market Outlook

Standard Uranium (TSXV:STND,OTCQB:STTDF) is advancing an ambitious exploration strategy in Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin, according to CEO and Chairman John Bey, who spoke with the Investing News Network at the 2026 Vancouver Resource Investment Conference.

The company is preparing for a multi-project drill campaign that includes its flagship Davidson River project, as well as inaugural drilling at the Corvo and Rocas projects. Bey highlighted Davidson River’s proximity to NexGen Energy's (TSX:NXE,NYSE:NXE) Rook I project, noting that the Southwestern Athabasca Basin is emerging as a key area for high-grade uranium discoveries.

Bey also discussed Standard Uranium’s project generator model, which the company adopted in 2023 to manage risk and funding challenges during weaker market conditions. Under this approach, joint venture partners fund exploration in exchange for earning project interests, while Standard Uranium receives cash, shares and operatorship fees.

Bey said the model has allowed the company to advance multiple projects simultaneously, keep exploration teams active and maintain strong relationships with local communities and service providers, while preserving upside exposure to potential discoveries.

Sirios Resources: Expanding a Multimillion Ounce Gold Project in Québec’s James Bay Region

Sirios Resources (TSXV:SOI,OTCQB:SIREF) Chairman Dominique Doucet says the company is entering its "second life." Following the strategic acquisition of OVI Mining, the company is consolidating a district-scale platform in Québec’s Eeyou Istchee James Bay region, anchored by its flagship Cheechoo gold project.

The Cheechoo project is less than 15 kilometers away from the world-class Éléonore gold mine and an underutilized mill, with 1.3 million ounces indicated at 1.12 g/t gold, and 1.7 million ounces inferred at 1.23 g/t gold.

In December 2025, Sirios Resources announced a definitive arrangement agreement with OVI Mining, which is set to create a Québec-focused gold company that also brings in expertise from Osisko Development (TSXV:ODV) executives Sean Roosen and Laurence Farmer, who will join the Sirios board on closing.

With gold prices holding historic highs and over $1.5 million recently added to its treasury via warrant exercises, the company is fully funded for its next phase: a major summer drilling campaign in 2026.
